No detectives, just facts
VerifyShaadi is a matrimonial background verification service in India, and a DDverse Initiatives company. Families come to us with a biodata full of claims. We check those claims against the records that actually hold the answer, have a named analyst read every finding, and send back a report written in plain English.
Why this exists
An arranged marriage in India is one of the largest decisions a family makes, and it is routinely made on the strength of a one-page document and a few conversations. The claims on that page, the degree, the designation, the salary, the fact that this is a first marriage, are almost never checked, because checking them properly means calling employers, reading court listings and writing to universities. Most families have no way to do that, and no idea where to begin.
What has existed instead is an informal detective trade: opaque pricing, no methodology, no accountability, and often methods nobody would defend in daylight. It trades on fear. It produces a phone call, not a document, and there is no way to tell a real finding from a guess.
We built VerifyShaadi to be the opposite of that. Closer to a diagnostics lab or a title search than an investigation: a defined list of checks, official sources, a stated price, a named human reviewing the results, and a written report you can read, question and disagree with. We surface facts. We do not accuse anyone, and we do not tell you what to decide.
How we work
Sources, not suspicions
Every line in a report traces back to a record someone official keeps, a registry, a court listing, a university, an employer, a public profile. If we cannot point to the source, we do not print the claim.
Uncertainty stays visible
Records are messy. Names collide, addresses are spelled three ways, a case listing may name a different person. Where we are not sure, the report says “not confirmed” rather than rounding up to a clean verdict.
Facts, not verdicts
We never tell a family whether to proceed. We are not qualified to and it is not our decision. We tell you what the records say and where they are silent.
The candidate is a person too
Someone is being checked, often without a say in who ordered it. That is why consent is settled first, why scope is capped, and why we delete what we no longer need.
Who we are
VerifyShaadi is operated by DDverse Initiatives. We are a small team of analysts and engineers working on verification and data products. Our analysts are the people who read your report before you do; our engineers build the systems that keep the underlying data narrow, encrypted and short-lived.

What we do with personal data
This section is deliberately long. A verification service asks you to hand over your own details and someone else’s, so you are entitled to know precisely what happens to them. Everything below describes how the service is built, not an aspiration.
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
India’s DPDP Act 2023 governs how personal data is handled. Under it we are a Data Fiduciary: we decide why and how personal data is processed, and we carry the obligations that come with that. You, and the candidate being checked, are Data Principals with enforceable rights.
The Act’s principles map directly onto how the service is built:
- Lawful purpose and consent. Every check runs on a recorded lawful basis. Nothing is processed “because we had it”.
- Purpose limitation. Data supplied for a verification is used for that verification. It is not repurposed, profiled, sold, or fed into anything else.
- Data minimisation. We ask for the fields a check actually needs, and refuse ones it does not.
- Storage limitation. Data is deleted when the purpose is served, see the retention table below.
- Accuracy. Findings are reviewed by a human before delivery, and corrected if you show us we are wrong.
- Security safeguards. Encryption in transit and at rest, access limited to the analyst assigned to your order, and an audit trail of who opened what.
- Breach notification. If personal data is compromised we notify the affected people and the Data Protection Board as required, without waiting to be asked.

What we collect, why, and how long we keep it

What we delete, and when
Deletion is scheduled, not requested. When an order reaches the end of its retention window, the candidate’s personal details, the uploaded documents, the raw evidence pulled from sources and the report file are removed from live systems and from backups on the next backup cycle.
Uploaded identity documents go sooner: they are removed as soon as the analyst has completed the finding they support, because there is no reason to hold an image of someone’s document after the fact it proves has been recorded.
Two things survive. The consent record survives, because it is the evidence that a check was lawful, and destroying it would leave the candidate worse off, not better. Payment and invoice records survive for as long as Indian tax law requires. Neither contains the report or the candidate’s verified details.
You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by writing to verifyshaadi@ddverse.in. We will confirm what was deleted and name anything we are legally obliged to retain.
The consent model
Consent is settled before a single check runs, and the mode you choose decides what the report can contain. Most providers blur this. We would rather be plain, because the difference is real.
Notified
Candidate is asked
- We approach the candidate, tell them precisely which checks are proposed and who ordered them, and record their consent in writing before anything runs.
- If they decline, the order stops and we refund the checks that were never performed.
- Because consent exists, the checks that legally require the candidate’s authorisation are available.
Confidential
Candidate is not contacted
- The candidate is not approached. You sign a declaration that you have a genuine matrimonial reason for the enquiry.
- The scope narrows to records that are lawfully open without the candidate’s authorisation. Consent-gated checks simply do not run.
- The report states plainly which checks were unavailable, so an absent finding is never mistaken for a clean one.
In both modes the order is held until consent is properly recorded, and in both modes the report lists the checks that could not be performed. A gap is always labelled as a gap.
A named analyst approves every report
No report is generated automatically and sent unread. Every finding is reviewed by an analyst who decides whether a record match is genuinely the same person, writes the finding in plain language, and either approves the report or sends it back for re-checking.
That analyst is named in the report. Approval is recorded against their identity with a timestamp, so there is always a specific person accountable for what you were told, not a system, and not “our team”.
Analysts see only the orders assigned to them. Access is logged. An analyst who is not working on your order cannot open it.
How the report reaches you
Reports are never published at a public URL, and never attached to an email where they would sit unencrypted in an inbox forever. A finished report lives in your account, and is served through a short-lived private link generated for you at the moment you ask for it.
Those links expire quickly and are single-purpose. A link forwarded to somebody else, or found later in a browser history, stops working. Guessing a link is not possible, they are not sequential and not derived from your order number.
Report files are stored encrypted, in a private bucket that is not reachable from the open internet. The only route to one is an authenticated request from the account that ordered it.
What we will not do
Competitors will not put this in writing. We will.
- No surveillance. Nobody is followed, photographed or watched.
- No data brokers. We do not buy personal data from resellers.
- No leaked or breached databases, ever, not even to “confirm” something.
- No dating apps, private messages, or accounts set to private.
- No pretexting. We do not lie about who we are to extract information.
- No selling, renting or sharing your data, or the candidate’s, with anyone for marketing.
Your rights, and the candidate’s
Access
Ask us what personal data we hold about you and what we have done with it.
Correction
Have inaccurate or incomplete details corrected or completed.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your data where we are not legally required to keep it. Consent and tax records are the exceptions, and we will tell you which applies.
Withdraw consent
A candidate who consented can withdraw it. Checks not yet run stop; we cannot un-run a check already completed, but we will tell you what had been done.
Grievance redressal
Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer and get a substantive reply, not an acknowledgement.
Nominate
Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.
